Dr. Zhang wins the 2009 Victor K. LaMer Award from the American Chemical Society (ACS) to recognize his graduate research and promise as a future investigator. As the 40th winner of this prestigious award, Dr. Zhang will be giving the LaMer plenary lecture at the ACS 83rd Colloids and Surface Science Symposium and the 13th IACIS International Conference on Surface and Colloid Science in June, 2009 in New York.

Dr. Zhang was accepted as a participating member by the Moores Cancer Center at UCSD.

Dr. Zhang was appointed as a Founding Scientific Adviser of the Nanotechnology Research Foundation (NRF). NRF is a non-profit organization focused on supporting the acceleration of nanotechnology awareness, education, recognition, funding, research and American innovation.

Dr. Zhang was accepted as a participating faculty member by the newly founded Institute of Engineering in Medicine at UCSD.
