Impacted Status

Due to high demand, ALL engineering majors at the Jacobs School have been designated as oversubscribed and have been granted impacted status.
1. NanoEngineering (Effective Fall 2014 for freshmen and effective Fall 2015 for transfers)
2. Chemical Engineering (Effective Fall 2014 for freshmen and effective Fall 2015 for transfers)

FRESHMEN and TRANSFER STUDENTS
Acceptance into an impacted engineering major is based on academic excellence demonstrated in high school. Acceptance will be granted to the maximum number of students in each of the impacted majors consistent with maintaining acceptable program quality and in compliance with admissions procedures and criteria approved by the Academic Senate's Committee on Educational Policy. Admission is granted by the Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools and not the individual departments.

APPLYING TO AN IMPACTED MAJOR
Students who would like to switch into NanoEngineering or Chemical Engineering, must complete at least one year of academic study at UC San Diego. Please click on the following link for more information:  http://ne.ucsd.edu/undergrad-programs/admissions
