Professor Donald Sirbuly leads the way in developing Nanofiber Optic Force Transducers

Professor Donald Sirbuly leads a team of Engineers at the University of California San Diego in developing Nanofiber Optic Force Transducers. The miniature device is about 100 times thinner than a human hair and is capable of detecting forces from swimming bacteria and also hear the beating of heart muscle cells. Professor Sirbuly's work could lead to a new instrument for studying cellular behavior.
