Health

  • Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS): Integrative and student-centered services designed to support students towards their academic success, personal development and well-being while at UC San Diego.
  • Office of Students with Disabilities (OSD): UC San Diego welcomes students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors who have disabilities and wish to participate in the academic endeavors, professional opportunities, and campus events available in our community. In a collaborative effort to share campus resources for and about people with disabilities, this site provides resources to encourage all campus partners and constituents to engage in UCSD programs and activities.

  • Suicide Prevention:
    • National Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1 (800) 273-8255
    • Speaking of Suicide: A site for suicidal individuals and their loved ones, survivors, mental health professionals and the merely curious.
  • UC Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP): UC SHIP is a student-focused benefits package for UCSD graduate and undergraduate students, including strong medical, behavioral health, pharmacy, dental, and vision care benefits. UC SHIP is compliant with the Affordable Care Act requirements and works to complement your care at the Student Health Services right on campus. Enrollment is automatic for registered students; waiver application is also available.

Graduate Student Organizations 

  • Graduate Society of NanoEngineers (GSN): Our mission is to foster the professional, educational, and social development of NanoEngineering graduate students by working with the NanoEngineering department to provide 1) opportunities to build relationships and network with other graduate students, department faculty and alumni, and members of industry, 2) resources to help new students transition smoothly to graduate school both academically and socially, and 3) programs that help graduate students to work beyond the lab and participate in outreach events. GSN at University of California, San Diego aims to work at the interface between the graduate student body, the department administration, faculty, and staff, and the local and professional community, acting as a liaison between these parties.
  • Center for Student Involvement: Find a place of belonging and personal growth and become experienced citizens and leaders through engagement in student organizations, events, Greek Life, communication and leadership programs, and community service initiatives.
  • Graduate & Professional Student Association: The GPSA is the official representative body of graduate and professional student at UCSD, which exists to advocate for the rights and interests of our diverse community, to provide for the enjoyment of social, cultural, and service-oriented events, and for the betterment of academic and non-academic life of all graduate and professional students at UC San Diego.

Writing

  • Graduate Education & Postdoc Affairs (GEPA) Dissertation/Thesis Formatting Workshops: Graduate Division Academic Advisors review the Dissertation/Thesis submission process and give a brief overview of formatting.
  • Teaching + Learning Commons: 
    • Graduate Student Writing Room: Dedicated time and space for you to work on your writing project. We set individual goals then work quietly, together. No RSVP or commitment required, just come and work! Every Monday through Thursday | Writing Hub, Geisel West, 1st Floor | 9:30am - 10:30am (free coffee).
    • Graduate Student Writing Retreats: Intensive writing time plus strategies for more positive and sustainable writing habits. Best for students who are working on a long-term writing project. RSVP and refundable deposit required. Visit the Teaching + Learning Commons website on Grad Writing Retreats for more information.
    • One-On-One Consultations: Graduate student consultants can work with any project, at any stage, and help you meet your writing goals. By appointment only. Visit the Teaching + Learning Commons Writing Hub for more information.

  • UCSD Grad Life: Housed within the Student Affairs Unit of the Graduate Division–the central resource for all matters related to graduate education at UC San Diego–Grad Life works behind the scenes and in collaboration with campus organizations, faculty, staff, and students to bring essential programming, resources, and communication to current UC San Diego graduate students. The Grad Life Intern, a current UC San Diego graduate student, works with campus administrators and Graduate Division administration and develops programs and activities for graduate students in an effort to improve the overall campus environment for graduate students.

On Campus Services

  • Student Legal Services: Student Legal Services can give legal education, counsel, and referrals to UCSD Students. Access the link for additional information and appointment scheduling.
  • Basic Needs Center: The Hub Basic Needs Center provides resources for connections to nutritious food, Calfresh, stable housing, and financial wellness resources.
  • Basic Needs Assistance Form: If you are a UC San Diego student who is facing challenges with your access to adequate food, stable housing, or financial resources, you're encouraged to complete this form
  • Calfresh: CalFresh food benefits are funds that can be given to help supplement their food budget and buy food. Follow the link for additional eligibility and application information. 
  • Triton Food Pantry: The mission of the Triton Food Pantry is to provide a discreet service to UCSD students in need of food. All current UCSD undergraduate and graduate students can access this service. 
  • Financial Aid and Financial Literacy Resources: Information on Financial Aid resources, as well as comprehensive information on budgeting and financial literacy. 
  • Jobs on Campus: Information to help you connect you to job resources. Find job postings, career fairs, and job readiness information by accessing the links.
  • Undocumented Student Services: Personal guidance, immigration legal services, community building, partnerships, and referrals for Undocumented Students.

Title IX Resources

Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 states: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

  • Office For the Prevention of Harassment & Discrimination (OPHD): OPHD's mission is to educate the UC San Diego community about issues of bias, harassment and discrimination and to assist with the prevention and resolution of these issues in a fair and responsible manner.
    • Report Bias: Promote a respectful and tolerant campus climate by reporting bias incidents involving members of the UC San Diego community.  UC San Diego is committed to the highest standards of civility and decency toward all as reflected in the UC San Diego Principles of Community. The university rejects acts of harassment and discrimination, works to resolve concerns, and investigates known facts to determine if university policies have been violated.
